Headquarters of the Emergency Medical Service

Competition for the new headquarters of the Emergency Medical Service, Prague (CZ)

The subject of the competition is a new administrative and technical building of the ZZS as the main headquarters of the Prague Emergency Medical Service. Our proposed concept combines a committed contextual and environmental response, with a transcription of the specific programmatic data, placing life at the heart of the project.

The built volume, for which the plan takes its inspiration from the shape of a butterfly, sits harmoniously in the landscape, with consideration for the built environment and existing vegetation. The horizontal lines, curves, decrescendos of height and the vertical spire, trace outside spaces, pull in existing built corners, and create lines of site and access whose physiognomy changes with movement.

The building constitutes both an efficient work tool for its users, and a place of well-being to alleviate the stress of employees working in difficult conditions of medical emergency. Landscape, natural light, open views, agreeable work spaces, meeting places, flexibility, durability, this is the vocabulary of a conception that puts the human at the heart of the project and at the heart of the environment.
